How to Buy an Office Chair

You can’t simply stop by an appliance store and grab a chair for a great bargain. Why? There are many reasons. One major reason is that you might not like anything else about it except for the price.

In fact, these reasons are the same reasons you have to bear in mind when shopping for the right office chair for you. Let’s try to figure out some considerations you have to take when buying an office chair, whether that is yours or not, but most particularly if you’re buying one for your boss.

Choices

An office chair should speak of durability and comfort in one package. For most people who have not researched, the office chair means only one thing: the swivel chair. In fact, it is the most common chair you can find in any office but when you don’t want to be like everyone else, you can actually have a lot of choices such as the mesh back chair and folding office chairs. You may have to consider a lot of things with the chair vis-a-vis the person who sits on it.

Ergonomics

The reason why you need an office chair is that you want to be comfortable while accomplishing your daily tasks in the office. When your work is back-breaking, it becomes a bit bearable when from time to time you can lean back and feel comfort on your back and you won’t be more likely to suffer from carpal tunnel syndrome. That’s what ergonomics is all about. You have to look for a chair whose design supports your body movement, posture, and even shape. So when you buy an office chair, it’s not entirely about looks. Remember, the boss is human too and he needs a chair that would support his bulging tummy.

Price

If you want to have a rattan chair from Brad Pitt’s furniture designer, no one is stopping you. But if you’re not a multi-million earning Hollywood sensation, you are not only wasting your money; you are simply out of your mind. Why would you use a rattan chair in a corporate office for example? But most of all, why won’t you settle for an ergonomic recliner that will look good on your mahogany desk? It is much cheaper and since you won’t have to think much of the price it becomes even more comfortable to sit on. The point to be taken here is that when you buy an office chair, it doesn’t have to be a designer label. Most offices would change their interior from time to time and it won’t be that easy to let go of a hundred thousand office chair. So third rule is be practical.

Cleaning

You might find it preposterous to include cleaning when buying a chair, but remember you are to sit on that chair for hours whether you are well or sick. It is where you find yourself sipping your coffee or munching a doughnut while facing a sickly client. That means your chair is exposed to a lot of dirt, dust, microbes, pet hair maybe, and what not. If your chair is that difficult to clean, then it becomes a complete dirt bag in a short while.

All major interior design companies who design office interiors will recommend the highest quality office chairs.
